They say the specter of a woman paces the widows walk. Sometimes, on clear, quiet nights, her gentle weeping is heard.  Often ,  passer-bys, have claimed to have seen her, silently walking, back and forth... as if waiting.

Legend says her name is Elizabeth, who's husband was  in the civil war. It is from its great height, she would scan the horizon, always in hopes of seeing his return.  The day, the news came that he would never return, Elizabeth went out on the widow's walk, and threw herself over its railing.  However, she still waits for him...
