Seance Room

Legend says that an old Gypsy woman observed the Trespauze children playing with a Ouija Board.  She warned them of dabbling with things they did not understand, but of course, her warning went unheeded.  One night, while talking with the board something was unleashed.  Some say it was the spirit of an evil witch whom was put to death and walled up in what is now the back-wall of the the fireplace . Others claim it was a demon. Whatever it was, the results were terrifying!   Writing would mysteriously appear on the walls, items would fly through the air.   Loud banging and screaming could be heard throughout the household.  The children often complained of being stuck by pins. Captain Trespauze tossed the Ouija board into the fire he had built  to destroy it - only to find it intact, not even scorched on the mantel  the next day.   Soon the children were avoiding what became known as the Seance Room, claiming they had seen the witch in the flames, coming to get them. Their father claimed it was merely a trick of the smoke and flames.

In desperation, the family consulted mediums to try and put the angry spirit to rest, but to no avail.   Finally, they locked the door and placed Holy water in a recepticle  across it.   Whether this ended the malicious behaviour no one is certain.   But they do say, that those who dare near, often see a woman dutifully pouring water into the trough-like holder.
